They don’t seem dangerous.
But as any sleep-deprived parent walking through the house in the middle of the night will tell you, it’s painful to step on a sharp wooden block when you’re barely conscious.
“And babies and toddlers also like to throw things, just to see what happens,” says Alexandra Wolff, single mom and CEO of A Diva Difference. “Have you ever had to apologize to another parent when their child gets clobbered by a block? It’s no fun.”
Alexandra thought blocks made from soft plastic, rubber, or cloth would work. But they each had their own problems.
Her research revealed that even BPA-free plastics can contain toxins such as PVC, phthalates, nitrosamines, and heavy metals, that are harmful to a child’s growth and development.
“Did you know that 3 million people are diagnosed with a latex allergy every year?” Alexandra asks, “Medical experts believe it’s from repeated exposure to natural rubber products.”
And then there’s cloth. It’s soft and squishy, but trying to keep it clean with a household full of pets, siblings, and teething babies can be a nightmare. Some hold up in the wash, but most don’t.
That’s what made Alexandra decide it was time to upgrade the classic baby block to one that solved all these problems at once. She spent the next year researching materials and developing the technology to make it happen, and she thinks she’s found the perfect solution.
“The Ouchless Baby Blocks are everything a parent could want in a toy,” she says with a smile, “they’re light, bright, fun, and bouncy. And best of all, they’re safe for all ages – even parents.”
Made from 100% certified food-grade silicone with a patent-pending technology, the blocks are hermetically sealed with an air pocket inside, which means they float too.
“You don’t have to scrub drool or mold out these or throw them away when they get too yucky,” Alexandra says, “they’re the perfect bath toys.”
